PVT kicked off the new year 2016 with enthusiasm and energy, making its debut as an exhibitor at the Machine Tool Exhibition held in Bangalore from January 21 to 26, 2016. Although the decision to participate was made at short notice in late 2015, it proved to be the right one. Over the five-day event, the company established numerous new connections with local suppliers and manufacturers, engaging in technically challenging discussions and exploring potential project collaborations.
Not all exhibitors are from India. Many well-known European competitors also visited our booth, eager to learn about the latest developments from this mid-sized company based in Bensheim at this international event.
PVT’s current impression of India: Sales of PVD coating systems will not become our primary market. However, numerous discussions have revealed a strong and growing interest among local Indian companies in coating services, which is sufficient to prompt PVT to consider establishing a coating service center in Maharashtra. PVT President Gabriel Herbert stated: “We will conduct a thorough feasibility study, gathering all the necessary data, with the aim of deciding by year-end whether to integrate this substantial investment into our business strategy.”
In recent years, in fulfillment of its commitments to the economic environment, India has created a more favorable political and social climate. A statement from the German Federal Foreign Office confirms this impression. With the new government elected in 2014, India has seen a decline in inflation, explicit recognition of the free market economy, and improvements in the investment climate—all encouraging signs. However, cultural differences and challenges, as well as the influence of traditional customs on the economic sphere—distinct from Western practices and norms—must also be taken into account. This means we need to reassess many stages of development and demonstrate perseverance and determination.
However, these requirements do not daunt us; our six coating centers in China have demonstrated that the PVT team not only masters cutting-edge technology but also adeptly navigates cultural differences.
