Summary:
PVT has successfully launched its newly developed PDA* technology. Using arc evaporation, PVT deploys this technology to vaporize refractory metals and alloys, enabling the deposition of ultra-hard, wear-resistant coatings on cutting and forming tools as well as component surfaces. The PDA* technology allows us to direct magnetic-field‑guided arcs into numerous tiny, rapidly moving arcs. As a result of this development, these arcs now evaporate various materials—such as Ti, Cr, AlTi, AlCr, TiSi, and many other target materials—in a smoother manner, significantly reducing both the number and size of droplets, thereby producing much smoother coating layers. In certain specialized applications, it is possible to deposit exceptionally smooth films; from a cost‑reduction perspective, post‑processing steps can even be eliminated. *PDA = Plasma Diffused Arc
PVT has successfully launched its newly developed PDA* technology. Using arc evaporation, PVT deploys this technology to vaporize refractory metals and alloys, enabling the deposition of ultra‑hard, wear‑resistant coatings on the surfaces of cutting and forming tools and components. The PDA* technology allows us to steer magnetic fields to disperse the arc into numerous tiny, high‑velocity arcs.
The result of this development is that these arcs now evaporate various materials—such as Ti, Cr, AlTi, AlCr, TiSi, and many others—from the targets in a smoother manner, significantly reducing both the number and size of droplets and thereby producing much smoother thin films.
In certain specialized applications, exceptionally smooth film layers can be deposited, and from a cost‑reduction perspective, post‑processing steps may even be eliminated.
